About the Instructor:
Linda
Ortberg has been the instructor and coordinator for the Quality Technology
Program at Tarrant County College (TCC) since 1996. She spent sixteen years in
industry prior to joining TCC. While
in industry, Linda was at the forefront of implementing SPC in the automotive
industry using SPC to improve processes during the initial stages of
organizational acceptance of SPC in the United States.
Her statistical background began at Upper Iowa University where she
received her Bachelor’s degree in Sociology and English.
Her continued use of statistics during the implementation phase of SPC at
Atwood Vacuum Machine Company in West Union, Iowa provided hands on experience
and continuing education through Rockford College, Rockford, Illinois.
After moving to Fort Worth, Texas in 1985 and joining Sealed Air
Corporation, she continued her studies and pursuit of the application of SPC
through courses provided by the University of Ohio in Cincinnati and she
attended Dr. W. Edwards Deming's Four Day Seminar in Dallas, Texas in 1988.
As the National Product Quality Manager at Sealed Air Corporation she
utilized SPC in problem solving and practical applications resulting in
demonstrable process improvements and design changes with positive bottom line
results. Linda also studied SPC through her mentor Mr. E.B. (Oz)
Godsey, a retired Rockwell Collins Engineer and well-known ASQ Fellow.

retired from Dakota State University where she was Director of Student
Development.
