About the Instructor:

Linda Ortberg has been the instructor and coordinator for the Quality Technology Program at Tarrant County College (TCC) since 1996. She spent sixteen years in industry prior to joining TCC.  While in industry, Linda was at the forefront of implementing SPC in the automotive industry using SPC to improve processes during the initial stages of organizational acceptance of SPC in the United States.  Her statistical background began at Upper Iowa University where she received her Bachelor’s degree in Sociology and English.  Her continued use of statistics during the implementation phase of SPC at Atwood Vacuum Machine Company in West Union, Iowa provided hands on experience and continuing education through Rockford College, Rockford, Illinois.  After moving to Fort Worth, Texas in 1985 and joining Sealed Air Corporation, she continued her studies and pursuit of the application of SPC through courses provided by the University of Ohio in Cincinnati and she attended Dr. W. Edwards Deming's Four Day Seminar in Dallas, Texas in 1988.   As the National Product Quality Manager at Sealed Air Corporation she utilized SPC in problem solving and practical applications resulting in demonstrable process improvements and design changes with positive bottom line results.  Linda also studied SPC through her mentor Mr. E.B. (Oz) Godsey, a retired Rockwell Collins Engineer and well-known ASQ Fellow.
